Stevan Stojanovic, born in Wellington, moved 1987 to Rome to study at the Academy of Fine Art. 1988 he was accepted as a student by the Accademia della Medaglia run by the Italian State Mint.
As a student he won the competition to carve the commemorative medal of the Centennial of 1st of May, which was issued by the Italian State Mint in 1990. He also exhibited works in the World Expos in Seville and Kyoto. Later Stevan moved to London where he worked as a freelance engraver of medals for private mints.
In 1992 Stevan returned to Rome and began working with David Loepp, a well known jeweller and expert in ancient jewellery and artefacts, where he learned to restore and manufacture antique jewellery.
